David Griffin – David Griffin & Co Realtors // 3502 Edgewater Street // $1,295,000

This 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath modern home adjacent to the Katy Trail was designed by Gail and Joe Adams of Adams Architecture based in Houston and was recently featured in Luxe Interiors and Design magazine in Dallas. moderndallas.weekly real estate – 468 Easton

468 Easton Rd_Ed Murchison_Virginia Cook Realtors_$365,000

468 Easton Road  // Ed Murchison  - Virginia Cook Realtors //$365,000

Inspired by the Eichler series of homes in California, the 468 House with
floor-to-ceiling  walls of glass, soaring vaulted ceilings, exposed wood
beams and public spaces around a courtyard is a contemporary take
on Mid-century Modernism. Built in 2006 by Dallas Architect Jonathan
Delcambre and lauded by the U.S. Green Building Council, the project used structurally insulated panels (SIPs), passive solar design, low-
E windows, a TPO membrane roof as well as other environmentally
responsible building techniques.

The architect, who has also designed larger and much more expensive
homes in  the Kessler Woods development kept the house in scale with
the original homes in the neighborhood and chose classic modern
materials such as 16″ roman brick – similar to the style favored by Frank
Lloyd Wright  combined with concrete flooring  and other more
contemporary features.

Like most Mid-century Modern homes, 468 House has an open floor
plan with the  living room, dining room and kitchen sharing one space.
Theses spaces are  united by matching maple cabinetry in the kitchen
with it’s large island, the media  wall in the living room and the custom
see-though fireplace that acts as an architectural screen giving
definition to the spaces. The exposed beam ceilings soar up to 14′ with
clerestory windows providing natural light and privacy. The low wall
of roman brick brings the exterior finishes inside uniting the inside to the
outside. There are two bedrooms separated by a Jack’n'Jill bath on
one end of the house,  a powder room and an office that opens to
the courtyard. The spacious private  master bedroom suite is located
on the opposite side of the house and features two shoe closets, a
walk-in closet and master bath with clerestory windows.

The 468 House is the perfect mix of classic Mid-century Modern
architecture re-imagined for a new century at an affordable price.
